The part of the book that lines the backside of the cover leather is called the doublure. This can consist of stiff paper, colored paper, moire patterned linings, marbled paper and leather. Often the doublure and the facing flyleaf are of the same material.
In the basic bible binding, we use a black paperbacked vinyl which has leather like qualities and tends to look good with most leather bindings. There is no extra charge for this type of lining.
The next step up in quality is a black English calfskin. This smooth leather gives a wonderful feel and increases the flexibility of the soft covers. This option starts at $20.
After this comes the lambskin leathers. We offer a variety of colors so you can pick a complementary color to your cover leather. They are buttery soft and have a very fine grain. Lambskin liners start at $30.
